Bourgogne
Burgundy, inhabited for more than 300000 years, has been called the historical cradle of France because its future was played there many times, of Alésia with Fontenoy. This splendid area owes its name in Burgondes which settled there towards 480. The many travellers who crossed it could, through the centuries and still today, admire splendours of the Romance abbeys of Cluny (Xth) then of Citeaux (XIth) which has given cistercians abbeys through all Europe. The Duchy was attached definitively to the kingdom of France in 1477.
Fatherland of famous men such as the poet Lamartine, who was appointed of Mâcon, or Gustave Eiffel, Burgundy is today an area with the accessible charm, proud of its vineyards of which it draws some from the best wines of France like Clos Vougeot or the famous wines of the Old people's homes of Beaune. A small turn in country of Bresse will enable you to discover one of best chickens of France, the Chicken from Bresse is indeed in the world the only one to profit of an AOC. The Prune from Vitteaux deserves as for him the turning for its required gustatory qualities. Another universally known "ambassador", the Dijon Mustard accompanies a number of dishes in the best restaurants in France and around the world. Dijon, city superb and coloured is also the heart of a regional production appreciated: the Blackcurrant Cream, which one will serve on ice into digestive or Kihr with small Burgundy white grape. Lastly, the table will not be complete if we do not add famous Burgundy Snails to it, cooked in a garlic and parsley butter... A pure wonder...
