Limousin
The history of this pretty corner of France which is the Limousin is marked by the One hundred year old War, since Henri II Plantagenêt becomes Duc in Limoges in 1166 and will later be crowned King of England. The XIIIth century will the one of the splendid cathedral of Limoges which is still visited today. But if there is a date to remenber concerning this area, this is certainly the year 1736, which will see the birth of the first earthenware factory in Limoges... The porcelain will give very quickly to the city and its area richness and notoriety, as we can find it today on the tables of many restaurants all around the world.
If the porcelain comes immediately to mind when we speak about this area, the celebrity of the Limousine race is also not any more to make. This rustic cow is largely appreciated for its adaptabilities, its robustness, its fruitfulness and the quality of its flesh. The limousine cook is well known for its ox and its sweet chestnut, its potato with its tongs of sheep, ideally served with a glass of Branceilles Wine of the south of Corrèze. Last but not least, quite unknown but delicious, we advise you at the time of a forthcoming visit in the area of Brive, to taste the Violet Mustard which will give for example, a spicy taste to a roasted steaklet of duck...
