Côtes de Toul

Alsace & Eastern France
Share
Côtes de Toul is a wine produced in the Lorraine region of France. This wine is principally made from Pinot Noir grapes, which yield light and fruity red wines. The white wines of this region are crafted from Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay grapes, offering balance and freshness. Côtes de Toul boasts a rich history extending back to Roman times, when Roman legions discovered the region's advantages for viticulture. Since then, the region has continued to produce quality wines, though it was only in the twentieth century that Côtes de Toul received recognition as an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC). The region's vineyards are situated on steep, sun-exposed slopes that favor grape maturation. The soils are composed primarily of limestone and marl, which impart mineral aromas and fine tannins to the wines. The red Côtes de Toul displays a beautiful cherry-red hue, with aromas of cherry, blackcurrant, and forest floor. These wines are supple and well-balanced, with fine tannins. The white wines, made from Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay grapes, offer aromas of stone fruits and flowers, with freshness and balance. Côtes de Toul represents wines of genuine discovery. They pair naturally with local dishes such as quiche lorraine, pâté de Toul, and fish-based preparations. The red wines complement red meats and cheeses admirably. The white wines are well-suited to fish and seafood.
