Bugey Wine
BurgundyVin du Bugey is an AOC wine produced in the Bugey region, located in eastern France. It is principally produced from three grape varieties: Altesse, Chardonnay, and Poulsard. Altesse is the primary varietal and is used to produce dry white wines and sparkling wines. Chardonnay is employed for dry white wines and sparkling wines. Poulsard is used to produce light red wines. Bugey wines are characterized by fine acidity, aromas of stone fruits, and mineral notes. They are often compared to wines from the neighboring Savoie region. Bugey wines are frequently served with local dishes such as cheeses, cured meats, and lake fish. They may also be enjoyed as an aperitif or paired with lighter dishes.
