Rasteau

Natural Sweet Wines
Share
Rasteau is a red wine produced in the Rhône Valley wine region of France. It is made from grape varieties such as Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, which yield wines that are rich, fruity and spiced. The Rasteau vineyard is situated on the sun-exposed slopes of the Rhône Valley, approximately 20 kilometers south of the city of Orange. The soils are composed primarily of stones and smooth pebbles, which ensure excellent drainage and allow for strong concentration of aromas in the grapes. Rasteau wines are renowned for their aromatic complexity, with notes of red fruit, pepper and garrigue. They also possess a fine tannic structure, which allows them to age in the cellar for many years. Several categories of Rasteau wine exist, ranging from standard cuvée wines to prestige cuvée wines. Standard cuvée wines are typically consumed young, while prestige cuvée wines can be cellared for many years before drinking.
