Saint-Péray

Rhône Valley
Share
Saint-Péray Saint-Péray is a white wine produced in the Rhône region of France. It is made from Marsanne and Roussanne varieties, which impart considerable aromatic complexity and a firm structure to the wine. The Saint-Péray vineyard is situated on the hillsides bordering the Rhône, approximately 15 kilometers south of Valence. The soils are predominantly calcareous and clay-based, providing the grapes with excellent drainage and abundant sunshine exposure. Saint-Péray is recognized for its elegance and refinement. It displays aromas of white fruits, flowers, and minerals, with bright acidity that provides freshness and liveliness on the palate. The wine is frequently aged in barrels, which imparts notes of oak and vanilla. The maturation period in barrel typically extends from 12 to 18 months, developing considerable complexity and a persistent finish. Saint-Péray pairs excellently with fish and seafood, though it also harmonizes well with cheese and vegetable-based dishes. It is generally served at a temperature between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius. The wine is equally suited to Asian cuisine, where its bright acidity and freshness complement a variety of flavor profiles.
