Thouarsais Wine
Loire ValleyVin du Thouarsais
Vin du Thouarsais is produced in the Thouarsais region, located in Deux-Sèvres in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. This region is renowned for its red, white, and rosé wines, made from grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay.
The red wines of Thouarsais are generally full-bodied and fruity, with aromas of red fruits such as cherry and strawberry. They are also characterized by notes of pepper and liquorice, with moderate acidity and pronounced tannins. The white wines are dry and balanced, with aromas of apple and pear, along with notes of lemon and flowers. The rosés, meanwhile, are fresh and fruity, with aromas of strawberry and grapefruit.
Thouarsais wines are generally served with red meat dishes, such as beef and lamb, but they can also accompany strong cheeses and seafood-based dishes. The red wines are typically served at a temperature between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius, while the white and rosé wines are served at a cooler temperature, between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius.
Wine production in the Thouarsais region dates back to Roman times and has continued to develop over the centuries. Today, the region is home to approximately 200 wine producers who work together to promote their products and improve the quality of their wines. Thouarsais wines regularly receive awards in national and international wine competitions, testament to their exceptional quality.
