Ingredients
- 1 glass of sifted flour
- 1 glass of salted water
- Frying oil
- Caster sugar
1 Bring the water to a boil and add the salt. Avoid adding salt to cold water if your pans are stainless steel. Pour the boiling water all at once over the flour.
2 Mix with a wooden spoon.
3 Heat the frying oil. Use a chichis maker, which you can find at markets or online. As soon as the fritters are cooked, about 4 to 5 minutes, drain them and place on absorbent paper. Roll them in caster sugar. Yum, just like at the beach!
4 A little story to help you avoid an accident: never drop a small ball of dough to test the heat of your oil, it might explode and you could be splashed with boiling oil. My son had his forearms bandaged for 2 days. Chichis are ribbed fritters with a dense batter. Now we know why: the ridges reduce pressure during frying. There's no such thing as coincidence.
This is just my opinion, but it's really dangerous! Do this when no one else is around. Give it a try, but it's true that the result is delicious.
