Côtes de Castillon
South-West FranceCôtes de Castillon is a wine region located in the Gironde department of Aquitaine. It is renowned for its red wines, produced primarily from Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
The region's vineyards span approximately 3,000 hectares and are planted on clay-limestone and gravelly soils. Winemakers are committed to producing quality wines using traditional methods, such as goblet pruning and hand harvesting.
Côtes de Castillon wines display aromas of red and dark fruits, including cherry, blackcurrant, and blackberry, along with notes of cedar and licorice. They are often considered elegant and structured wines, with fine, well-integrated tannins.
These wines pair well with red meat dishes, such as beef ribs and stews, as well as strong cheeses. They can also be enjoyed with mushroom and truffle-based dishes.
It is worth noting that Côtes de Castillon is also a popular tourist destination, with many wine châteaux open to visitors. Wine enthusiasts can discover production methods, taste the region's wines, and purchase bottles directly from the cellar.
