1 Peel and core the apples, cut them into quarters, then slice them into large chunks. Place the slices in an ovenproof dish and mix them with the cranberries and 1.75 oz (50 g) of brown sugar.
2 In a bowl, combine the ground almonds, buckwheat flour, and brown sugar. Add the walnut oil and mix everything together with a fork.
3 Add the chestnut flakes and gently mix them between your fingers so you don't break them up too much.
4 Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes at 375°F (190 °C). Remove the aluminum foil and continue baking for 10 minutes, until the crumble is nicely golden. Even for those who don't avoid gluten or dairy products, it's absolutely delicious.
My advice is that this is a truly healthy recipe. Chestnut flakes can be found in health food stores and they're similar to English oat flakes, which makes substitution easy if needed.
