- A sponge cake baked in a tall square mold (if possible)

- 25 cl (1.1 cups) of whole milk
- 50 g (1.75 oz) of caster sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 25 g (0.9 oz) of cornstarch
- vanilla flavoring (vanilla bean or vanilla sugar)
- Buttering
- 120 g (4.25 oz) of fine butter
- Strawberries
- 800 g (28 oz) of tasty strawberries of medium size
- 20 cl (0.8 cup) of strawberry syrup of good quality mixed with 4 cl (1.4 fl oz) of Kirsch (not mandatory)
- Proposed decorations or almond paste or powdered sugar
