Ingredients
- Shortbread apples for 6 shortbread apples:
- 6 Apples
- 1 lemon
- 50 g (1.75 oz) of butter
- 50 g (1.75 oz) of sugar
- 250 g (8.75 oz) of flour
- 125 g (4.4 oz) of caster sugar
- 1 egg
- 100 g (3.5 oz) of butter
1 Peel the apples and core them. Sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
2/ Prepare the shortbread dough by mixing all ingredients in a food processor or by hand.
3/ You should obtain a consistent and non-sticky dough. Roll it into a ball, wrap it in cling film and let it rest in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
4/ Once the dough has rested, roll it out and cut circles 2 1/2 times larger than the diameter of the apple. Place an apple in the center of each circle, put a knob of butter inside the apple and sprinkle with sugar.
5/ Fold each circle over each apple, sprinkle again with sugar and bake the shortbread apples in the oven for 30 minutes at 180°.
