Pouilly-Fumé
Loire ValleyPouilly Fumé is a dry white wine produced in the Loire Valley region of France. It is made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, which are cultivated on the chalky and sandy soils of the Pouilly-sur-Loire area. The name "Fumé" derives from the subtle smokiness perceptible in the wine's bouquet, a characteristic that results from growing the grapes near the region's tuffeau limestone cliffs.
This wine displays a pale yellow color with greenish glints. The bouquet is complex, offering aromas of exotic fruits, apple, pear, and lemon, accompanied by notes of smoke and mineral. On the palate, it is dry, fresh, and well-balanced, with vibrant acidity and a persistent finish.
Pouilly Fumé pairs excellently with fish and shellfish, as well as poultry and cheese-based dishes. It is equally suited to Asian cuisine, thanks to its acidity and exotic fruit aromas.
Pouilly Fumé is a wine that improves with age. It can be cellared for several years, revealing new aromas and flavors as it matures.
