Ingredients for 4 servings
- 1 untreated grapefruit
- 4 untreated oranges
- 40 g sugar
- 1 good tablespoon of liquid vanilla flavoring
- 80 ml pure vodka
1/ Remove the slices from the grapefruit and 2 oranges. Collect the juice you lose during this operation in a separate container from the segments. Set aside.
2/ Squeeze 2 oranges.
Pour the juice from the two oranges into a saucepan with the juice collected in the previous step.
Add the sugar and liquid vanilla flavoring then bring everything to a boil.
3/ Once boiling is reached, continue cooking to reduce the juice.
4/ When the juice has reduced enough (but not too much!) add the vodka and stir.
5/ Pour the orange-vanilla-vodka mixture over the citrus segments and refrigerate for 1 whole night.
Enjoy.
You don't have to refrigerate for a whole night: 1 hour is enough but leaving them overnight in the juice allows the citrus fruits to absorb the vodka, orange, and vanilla flavors and it tastes much better.
