Wash your gherkins, With a small nail brush, brush them under water, lay them out on your work surface, cut off both ends and pour them into a salad bowl.
Then pour your coarse salt over them, stir, cover and put in the refrigerator for 5 hours.
Take them out then let cold water run over them for 10 minutes (to desalt), drain them and lay them flat on a very clean cloth.
Set up your very clean jars then in layers pour your gherkins, your aromatics, your small onions etc.
When this operation is finished, boil your vinegar and fill your jars with this vinegar, let cool then put on your lids and put everything in the fridge. Wait about a month before starting to enjoy them and tell me!!! There are many other techniques for preparing gherkins, this one is mine (for example I keep them in the fridge because I think that way they stay firm)
