Ingredients
- 500 g of flour
- 250 g of soft butter
- 250 g of sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- before baking: 1 egg yolk, a few drops of milk and a pinch of sugar
- after baking: powdered sugar and a splash of water (this mixture should be very thick)
1/ In a mixing bowl, blend the butter and sugar, add the egg yolks one by one.
Incorporate the sifted flour.
Form a ball and let it rest 1 hour in the refrigerator.
2/ Preheat your oven to 180°C (Gas mark 6)
3/ Roll out your dough between 3 and 5mm thick, then using cookie cutters cut out shapes of your choice (be careful to keep uniform sizes)
4/ Place them on a buttered baking sheet and either glaze them or leave them plain if you want to ice them later...
5/ Bake for 10 to 15 minutes depending on thickness.
If you wish to ice them, let them cool then using a brush coat them with the powdered sugar + water mixture.
Photo: at the top they are prepared glazed style, at the bottom iced style....
