Ingredients
- 4 eggs (2 hard-boiled eggs and 2 fresh eggs)
- 1 teaspoon of strong mustard
- 1 teaspoon of good vinegar
- 3 dl of rapeseed oil (for example)
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
- Chopped capers, pickles, and fresh herbs (flat parsley or chives)
Tartar sauce is very easy to prepare. Simply mix all the ingredients together until they are well incorporated. You can also add fresh herbs or spices to give the sauce more flavor. It is important to let the sauce rest in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving, so that the flavors develop. Tartar sauce is ideal for accompanying grilled fish dishes, such as salmon, sea bass, or trout. It is also highly appreciated for serving with seafood, such as mussels, oysters, or shrimp. It can also be used to accompany meat dishes, such as chicken or beef, or to add more flavor to vegetables, such as carrots, green beans, or tomatoes.
To succeed with this tartar sauce, it is important to ensure that all ingredients are at the same temperature. Remove them from the refrigerator 1 hour before preparation.
1 Mash the 2 hard-boiled egg yolks with a fork in a bowl, then add your 2 raw egg yolks, mustard, vinegar, season, and whisk in the mayonnaise with the 3 dl of oil.
2 Finally, to finish your tartar sauce, add 2 tablespoons of chopped capers, pickles, and fresh herbs, as well as the chopped egg whites (so you don't lose them).
