Coulée de Serrant is a white wine from the Loire Valley, produced on the schist slopes of the Savennières appellation. It is regarded as one of the most prestigious wines of this region.
Coulée de Serrant is made on a family estate with origins dating to the 12th century. The vineyard is farmed organically, without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides, a practice that contributes to its distinctive character and considerable aromatic complexity. The region's schistose soil also imparts mineral qualities to the wine.
Coulée de Serrant is produced from Chenin Blanc, the signature grape variety of the Loire Valley, which yields dry, fresh, and mineral white wines. The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo a lengthy fermentation in oak casks. The wine is subsequently aged in barrels for several years before bottling.
Savennières Coulée de Serrant displays a pale yellow color and aromas of white fruit, honey, hazelnut, and mineral notes. On the palate, it is dry, mineral, and well-balanced, with a lively acidity that provides considerable freshness. It possesses a remarkable length, with flavors that unfold progressively.
