Ingredients for 10 servings

  • 1 1/2 c (375 ml) flour
  • 1/4 c (60 ml) cocoa
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) baking soda
  • 1/2 c (125 ml) melted butter
  • 1 c (250 ml) sugar
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp (3 ml) salt
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) vinegar
  • 1 c (250 ml) very hot water
  • N.B. you can add 1/2 c chocolate chips or raisins or nuts according to your taste
  • Frosting: 1/4 c (60 ml) soft butter
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) instant coffee
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) hot water to dilute the coffee
  • 2 c (500 ml) icing sugar
