Spiced Almond Gingerbread Squares soft and indulgent
Ingredients for 12 servings
- 13 oz (370 g) whole wheat flour
- 3.5 oz (100 g) powdered sugar
- 0.4 cup (10 cl) warm milk
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 5.25 oz (150 g) honey
- 2.8 oz (80 g) sliced almonds
- 1.75 oz (50 g) candied orange peel cut into small dice (or chopped)
- 2 teaspoons of mixed 4 spices
- 1 teaspoon of green anise
- 1.75 oz (50 g) icing sugar
- 1.4 fl oz (4 cl) water
Step-by-step recipe
1 Mix the flour, sugar and baking powder
2 Add the almonds and oranges
3 Mix the milk and honey in a bowl - Pour this mixture onto the dough
4 Mix to obtain a homogeneous dough and form a ball
5 Cut a sheet of parchment paper the size of your baking sheet
6 Roll out the dough on the parchment paper with a rolling pin: approximately 1 cm thick
7 Cut the edges to obtain a roughly square (or rectangular) shape
8 Place the dough on the baking sheet and set aside
9 Preheat the oven to 355°F (180 °C)
10 Bake for 15 minutes
11 After cooking, let the spiced bread cool
12 Preheat the oven to 410°F (210 °C)
13 Prepare the glaze by mixing the icing sugar and water
14 Brush the glaze onto the cake
15 Bake again for 3 minutes
16 Let cool and cut the spiced bread into squares
