Côtes de Toul

Alsace & Eastern France
Share
Côtes de Toul is a wine produced in the Lorraine region of France. The red wines are primarily made from Pinot Noir grapes, yielding light and fruity expressions. The white wines are crafted from Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay grapes, offering balanced and fresh characteristics. Côtes de Toul boasts a rich history dating back to Roman times, when Roman legions discovered the region's advantages for viticulture. The area has continued to produce quality wines ever since, though it was only in the 20th century that Côtes de Toul received recognition as an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC). The region's vineyards are situated on steep, sun-exposed hillsides that favor grape maturation. The soils consist primarily of limestone and marl, which impart mineral aromas and fine tannins to the wines. Côtes de Toul reds display a beautiful cherry-red color with aromas of cherry, blackcurrant, and forest floor. They are supple and well-balanced, with fine tannins. The white wines, made from Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, offer aromas of stone fruits and flowers, with a fresh and balanced profile. Côtes de Toul wines are truly worth discovering. They pair excellently with local dishes such as Lorraine quiches, Toul pâtés, and fish-based preparations. The red wines also complement red meats and cheeses beautifully, while the whites are ideal with fish and seafood.
